CBSE 2024 Exams: What if You Miss Class 10 or 12 Board Exams Due to Sports or Olympiads
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has a provision for students who might miss their Class 10 or 12 board exams because they’re participating in national or international sports events or international Olympiads.
To be eligible for this option, students need to meet the following criteria:
- Sports Authority of India (SAI) or the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) should officially recognize the sports event or Olympiad in which they are participating.
- Their school should apply to the relevant CBSE regional office on their behalf by December 31 of the board exam year. The application must include endorsements from SAI or HBCSE and a certificate of participation from these organizations.
If the authorities approve the application, the student will be able to take special exams for the subjects they missed due to their participation in sports events or Olympiads. The school will be told when these special exams will happen, and these exams will be at a later date.
It’s crucial to note that there won’t be separate opportunities for compartment and practical exams.
Here’s what a student should do if they have to miss a CBSE board exam due to a sports event or Olympiad:
- Immediately inform their school principal or headmaster.
- Provide the school with all relevant documents, including the invitation to the sports event or Olympiad, event schedule, and a certificate of participation.
- The school will then submit an application to the CBSE regional office on the student’s behalf.
- If they say yes to the request, the student can take special exams for the subjects they missed.
- The student should prepare diligently for these special exams and do their best.
