A tragic accident occurred in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district on a Sunday evening around 7 pm. Two passenger trains collided, resulting in the loss of six lives and injuries to many.

The collision happened between the Kantakapalle and Alamanda railway stations. It was the Visakhapatnam-Rayagada Passenger Special train that struck the Visakhapatnam-Palasa Passenger Express from behind. This impact caused multiple train cars to derail, as confirmed by official sources.

Top officials from the Railway Ministry have revealed that the train driver responsible for the rear-end collision missed a crucial signal. “He passed a red signal… The collision occurred from behind, and the local train in front was moving very slowly, almost at a crawl,” explained the official.

The East Coast Railway has assured us that they are actively engaged in rescue operations at the accident site.

In collaboration with local authorities, the Divisional Railway Manager and their team are on the scene, utilizing specialized rescue equipment, including a large crane.

They’ve also set up phone numbers that you can call if you need help.

The Prime Minister’s Office posted on social media that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in touch with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to stay updated. Authorities are making every effort to assist those affected. The Prime Minister expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families who lost loved ones and sent his best wishes for a speedy recovery to the injured.

Furthermore, a Railways official has shared that they’ve already initiated the process of providing financial support.They intend to offer 10 lakh rupees to the families of the deceased and 5 lakh rupees to those who were injured.
